“Like newborn babies, you must crave pure spiritual milk so that you will grow into a full experience of salvation. Cry out for this nourishment, now that you have had a taste of the Lord’s kindness.” 1 Peter 2:2-3 (NLT).
New born babes need milk to grow, develop and function maximally no wonder they crave, desire and long to suck milk whether breast milk or formula. A baby can’t be separated from milk and same is expected of any believer not to be separated from the Word. It is an obligation for us as our opening scripture stated that we “must crave” for it.
The call is for us to crave to study and meditate on the undiluted Word of God. It is worthy of note that without the Word, we will not be able to grow into the full experience of salvation. It is one thing to be saved from sin it is another thing to grow into the full experience of being saved. The difference between the two is the craving for the word.
The cry of our heart this day is to desire this nourishment, no wonder Joshua 1:8 stated that we should ”Study this Book of Instruction continually. Meditate on it day and night so you will be sure to obey everything written in it. Only then will you prosper and succeed in all you do”. To prosper and succeed in all we do, we must give ourselves to the study and meditation of the Word of God.
One cannot use his or her gadgets maximally without reading and understanding the manufacturer’s manual, the same way we cannot maximize our salvation experience without God’s manual that is the Word of God.
Crave for the Word!
