Word For Faith – December 27, 2019

“The thief’s purpose is to steal and kill and destroy. My purpose is to give them a rich and satisfying life.”
John 10:10 NLT

Ever since Adam and Eve sinned against God in the Garden of Eden, Satan has been stealing the blessings God has lavishly given to mankind, as well as killing and destroying people’s lives.

That’s why Jesus Christ was born to restore all that Satan has stolen from us due to sin.

As we keep spreading this Good News about Jesus Christ and His Kingdom, many will put their 100% faith in Jesus Christ and experience a rich and satisfying life, in Jesus’ name!

Merry Christmas!

It shall come to pass!

God bless,

Word For Faith – December 25, 2019

“Then the angel said to them, “Do not be afraid, for behold, I bring you good tidings of great joy which will be to all people. For there is born to you this day in the city of David a Savior, who is Christ the Lord.”
Luke 2:10‭-‬11

The announcement by the angel to the shepherds about the birth of the Saviour – Jesus Christ, was good news to all people.

The Good News is that Jesus Christ was born to save humanity from the bondage of sin.

So, as we keep spreading this Good News about Jesus Christ and His Kingdom, many will receive Him as their Saviour and Lord and enjoy abundant life, in Jesus’ name!

Merry Christmas!

It shall come to pass!

God bless,

Maintaining Hope In A Hopeless Situation!

Maintaining Hope In A Hopeless Situation!

What is hope? The feeling of what is wanted can be had or that events will turn out for the best. A person or thing in which expectations are centred.

In life, we are faced with different situations that cause us to make choices. The Bible is full of examples of ordinary people whose life’s situation seemed hopeless, but their faith in God brought about a turn around. One of such testimonies is that of Abraham. When I read the story of Abraham and God’s dealing with him, many questions spring up in my head as to why Abraham?

Some of such questions are:
• Why would God choose a man whose father (Terah) worshipped idols and may have been an idol worshipper himself? (Josh. 24:2; 14-16). Abraham had a bad spiritual foundation due to a history of idolatry in his family. More so, idolaters are part of the group God said would go to hell (Rev. 21:8; Rev. 22:15). This alone disqualifies Abraham from ever being considered as a candidate of God’s blessing.
• Abraham was 75 yrs old while Sarah was 65 yrs when God called Abraham to leave his father’s house, relatives and native land to another land. (Gen. 12:1-5). In our contemporary world, this couple would most likely have retired and receiving their pension. They’ve spent most of their younger years working and saving for their retirement.
• His wife Sarah was barren (Gen. 11:30)
• At the age of 100, God reminded Abraham that Sarah his wife, who at this time was 90 yrs of age would still give birth to a son. Even Abraham laughed in disbelief about the prospect of becoming a father at such an old age. At this age, most men are sexually inactive.

No! God chose an ordinary couple, who had several limitations, to show the world the greatness of His power, by disproving medical science (1 Cor. 1:26-29).

God, supposedly aware of these human limitations, made a covenant with Abraham to fulfil His promises to him. Abraham’s responsibility was to first believe the integrity of God’s Word and obey Him. Abraham was totally and completely convinced beyond any shadow of doubt that God, who had promised Him a son in his old age, was able to perform it and bring it to pass. From a medical and human stand point, Abraham and Sarah at 100 and 90 yrs of age respectively should not even imagine, let alone entertain the thought of having a child. Both had long passed their biological clock. However, Abraham’s hope of becoming the father of many nations kept his faith alive and grew stronger. This meant he was doing something about what God had promised him.

Abraham did not one day decide that he was going to be in the Guinness Book of World Record as the oldest father and Sarah as the oldest mother. No! God chose an ordinary couple, who had several limitations, to show the world the greatness of His power, by disproving medical science (1 Cor. 1:26-29).
There are many things God has spoken to so many people about, but they lack the will and desire to press in and keep fighting the fight of faith to see them come to pass.

In my case, God spoke to me first through a vision in June 2011. It wasn’t until Oct. 2012 when I went away on a three day prayer retreat that the Holy Spirit confirmed that He had sent me to Brentwood, Essex to start the Ministry. Just like Abraham, all I have going for me is my faith in God, through the word He spoke to me.

The vision for Lighthouse Gospel Ministries is so big that without my eyes of faith being on God, through His Word, it will fail. We must always see beyond our human limitations and see God’s ability to do what He has purposed to do through us.

I pray that as you read this message, you will yield to the Holy Spirit so that He can lead you into God’s purpose and plans for your life in Jesus name. Amen!

Are You God’s Advertisement Medium?

Without a doubt, Apple is one of the biggest brands of our time. To put into perspective, Apple spent $97.5 million to advertise the iPhone in 2008 fiscal year; $149.6 million to advertise the iPhone in the 2009 fiscal year and $173.3 million in the 2010 fiscal year. In advertising the iPad, Apple spent $149.5 million in the 2010 fiscal year and $307.7 million in the 2011 fiscal year. No wonder everyone knows about their products.

If we, the average Christians, are not making Jesus Christ known to those around us in our respective communities, through words or deeds, then He’ll not be known. This means people, who are in one form of bondage or the other and need help out of their situation, will never know the help that they can receive through faith in the name of Jesus Christ.

If we, the average Christians, are not making Jesus Christ known to those around us in our respective communities, through words or deeds, then He’ll not be known.

Imagine if one-third or two-thirds (to say the least) of Born Again Christians (disciples of Jesus Christ) from our respective local churches, were to go out on the streets or public places every week and tell someone or people that Jesus Christ loves them and that He came to save them; I bet there would be Holy Spirit revival in our communities.

In most of our communities here in the UK, many people do not go to church. Many have no faith, some have lost faith in God and in the Church, others are professed atheists, agnostics, spiritualists etc. As a consequence church attendance in most main stream Christian denominations in the UK has been on the decline and our nation is regarded as a post-Christian country.

Why Do We Need To Evangelize?

Many businesses, organizations and cooperations spend millions of pounds each year to put their products, services or messages on the public domain so that people can buy them. Most local churches do not have the financial means of putting out the Gospel message on secular media, but God has an army of Spirit-filled Born Again Christians, who can still declare that Jesus Christ reigns! Our society is increasingly becoming hostile to the Gospel of Jesus Christ. Christians are being persecuted in the work place for their faith, we are not allowed to share our faith and testimony in public places and declaring that one is a Christian in the public eye is becoming a thing of ridicule.

However, there are thousands of people walking up and down our streets everyday and such opportunities must be used to tell a stranger that Jesus loves him/her or give them a Gospel tract that explains the Gospel of Jesus Christ in its simplicity. God is looking for those disciples of Jesus Christ, who have compassion for sinners (that we once were) and reach out to them and plant seeds of the Gospel of salvation in Jesus Christ into such hearts.

God’s love for the world that motivated Him to give His Only Beloved Son – Jesus Christ, as a ransom to save many has not changed.

One day, I met a man whose body was covered with tattoos and his ears, nose and lips had different piercings. At first when I saw him, my human prejudice kicked in and I said to myself there’s no point wasting my time talking with this fellow. Almost immediately, the Holy Spirit spoke to me and said, no matter how bad he looks, he is still someone’s child and his parents still love him as their son. So, I proceeded and had a conversation with him about Jesus Christ. After our conversation, he thanked me for talking with him and I promised to be praying for him.

God’s love for the world that motivated Him to give His Only Beloved Son – Jesus Christ, as a ransom to save many has not changed. He wants more people to know about His love, grace and mercies. Join us in taking the message of The Cross and of the kingdom of God to many on our streets.

We aim to raise disciples in local churches, who would be able to go out on evangelism on the street or house to house and share gospel tracts and tell people how much God really loves and cares about them.

Gleanings From God’s Altar (Part 3)

Gleanings From God's Altar

Luke 10: 38-42 (NLT)

The actions of Mary and Martha were highlighted in this passage. First, let us look at Mary. Mary sat at Jesus’ feet. It is noteworthy that it was not beside, before or close, but at His feet, denoting humility or devotion. She had reasons to stay in the choicest place as it was her house but she knew the importance of being at that position. By sitting there, she was able to stay focused, no wonder the next text reads ‘listening to what He taught’. Jesus went on to state that there was just only one thing worth being concerned about and that was what Mary discovered and same will not be taken away from her.

It was recorded that Martha was distracted by the big dinner she was preparing and at some point came to tell Jesus to ask Mary to give her a helping hand. She expected Jesus to act in the way she said after laying her complaint, rather He told her of the needful thing and how Mary had discovered it.

To be able to sit at Jesus’ feet, one must have come into a relationship with Him that is we must have known who He is. The next thing is the act of sitting at His feet that is the place of devotion, humility and listening to His word. This calls for a time of devotion with the Lord and this is expected to be our lifestyle as believers. This is the only thing that cannot be taken away from us.

We must set our priorities right in line with the word of God. Not doing same will cause us to be distracted or carried away by many things. True and rightful service can be done when it is in accordance with the word of God, otherwise it becomes a difficult task that will sap our energy and make us complain. The complain will definitely come as the focus is shifted from the Word of God to ourselves, hence the phrases “I am tired, I am alone, nobody wants to help me” will come into play.

Serving rightly should be in line with God’s word otherwise, it will lead to frustration and even what one thinks he or she is doing can be taken away from such person.

In life, there are many things that we tend to be concerned about, it ranges from wealth, health, relationship, achievements/accomplishments, etc but today the Word of God is telling us that there is only one thing worth being concerned about that is the Word. Let us feed on God’s Word and other things will fall into place.

Gleanings From God’s Altar (Part 1)

“Like newborn babies, you must crave pure spiritual milk so that you will grow into a full experience of salvation. Cry out for this nourishment, now that you have had a taste of the Lord’s kindness.” 1 Peter 2:2-3 (NLT).

New born babes need milk to grow, develop and function maximally no wonder they crave, desire and long to suck milk whether breast milk or formula. A baby can’t be separated from milk and same is expected of any believer not to be separated from the Word. It is an obligation for us as our opening scripture stated that we “must crave” for it.

The call is for us to crave to study and meditate on the undiluted Word of God. It is worthy of note that without the Word, we will not be able to grow into the full experience of salvation. It is one thing to be saved from sin it is another thing to grow into the full experience of being saved. The difference between the two is the craving for the word.

The cry of our heart this day is to desire this nourishment, no wonder Joshua 1:8 stated that we should ”Study this Book of Instruction continually. Meditate on it day and night so you will be sure to obey everything written in it. Only then will you prosper and succeed in all you do”. To prosper and succeed in all we do, we must give ourselves to the study and meditation of the Word of God.

One cannot use his or her gadgets maximally without reading and understanding the manufacturer’s manual, the same way we cannot maximize our salvation experience without God’s manual that is the Word of God.

Crave for the Word!

The Mercy Of God

The mercy of God, just like the grace of God, is multifaceted. Before we go any further, we will look at the dictionary meaning of mercy and the biblical usage of the same word mercy.

Dictionary definition:
1) compassionate or kindly forbearance shown toward an offender, an enemy, or other person in one’s power; compassion, pity, or benevolence: Have mercy on the poor sinner.
2) an act of kindness, compassion, or favor: She has performed countless small mercies for her friends and neighbors.
3) something that gives evidence of divine favor; blessing

Biblical usage:
1) goodness, kindness, faithfulness
2) to be gracious, show favour, pity
3) mercy: kindness or good will towards the miserable and the afflicted or seeking aid, joined with a desire to help them
a) of men towards men: to exercise the virtue of mercy, show one’s self merciful
b) of God towards men: in general providence; the mercy and clemency of God in providing and offering to men salvation by Christ
c) the mercy of Christ, whereby at his return to judgment he will bless true Christians with eternal life

As we have seen from the definitions and biblical usage of the word mercy, another word linked to it is compassion. This is defined as “a feeling of deep sympathy and sorrow for another who is stricken by misfortune, accompanied by a strong desire to alleviate the suffering.”

God introduced Himself to Moses and the Israelites as a God of mercy when giving Moses the Ten Commandment (Exodus 20:5-6; Exo. 34:7).

Part of God’s nature and character is showing mercy. He exemplified this when He gave Moses the instruction on how to make The Ark of The Covenant (Exo. 25:17-21). The Ten Commandment and all the other statutes and precepts God gave the Israelites in the wilderness, is referred to as the Testimony (vs 21). These were to be placed inside the Ark while The Mercy Seat was placed above the Testimony. This signifies that God has placed His mercy over judgement. If any one appeals to His mercy, which is by faith in Jesus Christ, such a person is such to obtain God’s mercy.

The meaning of the word mercy, as seen in various places in the Bible, depends on the context in which it used. Now, God’s mercy is available to those who love Him and keep His commandment up to a thousand generations (Deut. 7:9). This speaks of the compassion and kindness God extends to those who obey Him and to their children and children’s children unto a thousand generations.

How Shall They Hear

How Shall They Hear

“How then shall they call on Him in whom they have not believed? And how shall they believe in Him of whom they have not heard? And how shall they hear without a preacher? And how shall they preach unless they are sent?…”
Romans 10:14

Recently, while on street evangelism, I met a young person and asked what he knew about Jesus Christ. He replied, not much and made a few guesses. When asked what was the latest iPhone in the market, he quickly gave the correct answer with a bit more information. I then asked him how come he knew so much about iPhones and not much about Jesus Christ, without thinking, he immediately replied and said advertisement! When I asked him to explain, he said that the iPhone is a brand, which is advertised everywhere through different forms of media. On the other hand, you really don’t hear or see much about Jesus Christ for people to know more about Him.

That really got me thinking and I said to him, you’ve really taught me something new today. On my way home, I began thinking about what he said and realized that though Churches or Christians may not have the financial means or approval of using secular media to advertise and promote the Gospel of salvation through Jesus Christ; every Born Again Christian is God’s advertisement media.

I pray that we will allow the Holy Spirit to use us to tell those around us and the world in general, about God’s love and His plan for redemption through Jesus Christ.
